How To Stick To Your New Year's Resolution

It's that time of year again.

The snow is falling and presents have already been opened.

You're nearly doubling up on lotion and moisturizer. You still have the frantic headset from the holidays just being over, but don't worry you are not alone.

1. Resolution Selecting. With the new year just beginning it is yet another chance to refresh and set new goals. You may have already selected your resolution, but I have not yet decided upon anything. Don't go for something cliche that you know you are going to give up on in two weeks.
This year I challenge you to select something that you think is worth it. If you have had the same objective for the past few years and can't seem to achieve it, then select something different. If you have exercise goals then instead of opting to lose 20 pounds, challenge yourself to a short walk each day. What I am NOT saying is to go for something easy.

2. Discipline. The next step is a little more difficult. Let's say for example your resolution is to read a book a week, if you don't then you can't get Starbucks for breakfast tomorrow. This may remind you of a three year-old's punishment, but it works for them- for the most part. You may want to consider writing down a list of penalties to use. A simple idea is to cut out the list individually and put them in a jar for when you need to use them.

3. Inspiration. Lastly, the hardest part, stay inspired. Don't slip up one day and then let that turn into a messed up week. It can be very easy to forget about your goal in two weeks; keep reminders around or alarms on your phone. Continue to reflect throughout the year. Even mark it down in your calendar as a reminder to check in. Make sure you don't over stress about it, because the point is to have a fantastic year. Don't be afraid to do something you have never tried before.
Best wishes to you.

xoxo.
